The outpouring of love that I’ve witnessed this past week proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that Paul left the world a very rich man and a very successful one. His riches were the only things we take from this life: the love of his family, his friends and his cats; his own capacity for love and kindness and his compassion for the smallest and most vulnerable.
In his last days, he was given a great and rare gift – he was able to see just how many people cared about him. I hope that as he read the messages, he realized how important he was, how much joy he had brought to so many and how much of their love he took when he left.
He will truly be missed.
