If you are looking for a spayed or neutered, healthy and happy cat or kitten give us a call and come visit! The rescue center is located on the property of our director, Megan Fischer, so a call is appreciated before you come out. We have an adoption procedure that we adhere to and we require an adult signature on an adoption contract. We will go over our adoption process with you, ask you some specific questions about your desires in a pet and turn you loose in the center. You can meet every cat we have available that day. You also can get a better understanding of how important it is to keep your cat indoors and why we adopt to 100% indoor homes only. We also strive to impress upon our adopters the importance of regular vet care and lifetime flea prevention. To make sure our cats and kittens start out on the right track they are given superior vet care and thorough medical treatment. This starts the moment they arrive. They immediately receive a bath and Capstar® treatment to ensure they are free of fleas, and they are tested for Feline Leukemia and FIV. After 4 weeks they are given a 2nd Feline Leukemia and FIV test to verify they are free of this virus. Also during their stay they will be spayed or neutered and have a physical examination performed by one of our veterinarians. As part of their general medical care while they are with us they will receive 2 Feline Leukemia vaccinations, 2-3 distemper vaccinations, a Bordetella vaccine, Droncit injection (for tapeworms), 3 general deworming treatments, 7 days of Panacur (a broad dewormer), and flea prevention will be applied every 4 weeks. The cost of this medical care and the general day-to-day costs of keeping our cats healthy and happy averages out to between $300 and $350 per cat that comes to our rescue center, but our adoption fee is only $100. The difference is made up with charitable donations from our wonderful supporters.
